One of the most important personal development related question is – how to increase self-confidence? So, in this article, we are going to discuss some powerful tips and strategies that will help you increase your confidence in yourself.

 

  • Try small things outside your comfort zone.

By this, I don’t mean that you have to take big steps outside your comfort zone, Just dip your toes in at first if that feels more comfortable then go ahead doing it.

Tell yourself- just for today I will __________. (fill in the blank with a task of your choice outside your comfort zone.)

Just do this thing today, you don’t have to do it ever again and you don’t have any commitment towards this task. Just do it today for once!

Tomorrow you may continue it and explore its horizons or just give it up altogether. Choice is completely yours.

In this way, what you did is, you got yourself going, without any fear, without any delay. You can speed it up and take bigger steps if you get comfortable in it.

This way, you will quit some things and continue doing other things. And you will build your self-confidence, step by  step, slowly.

 

  • Develop habits to reduce stress.

Stress leads to mushrooming of negative thoughts in our mind and we start doubting ourselves. Our confidence in ourselves and our ability to do what we want to do decreases. By developing habits that help us in tackling our stress, we control ourselves physically and mentally and gear up ourselves to any upcoming tasks.

It helps to keep an optimistic outlook towards life and helps in learning from our mistakes and moving on rather than giving up because of setbacks.

Habits like- deep breathing when in stress really help in countering a difficult situation and avoid any over-reaction from our side. Setting clear boundaries to tasks also helps in de-stressing. Deadlines to tasks ensure that the tasks gets completed on time and a task pending beyond a deadline definitely leads to stress. So, setting realistic deadlines not only ensures timely completion of tasks but also ensures that we are relaxed when not working.

 

  • Visualize it before doing it.

Visualizing things in our minds is a natural human tendency. What is more natural, is to think how things could go wrong. And that can suck the self-confidence right out of you.

What can be done? Well, instead of only visualizing, do positive visualization. Imagining how great that work meeting would go or how lovely that much-awaited date would be, really helps to stay positive and giving it your best. It will go how you desired it to go. So desire for a positive!

Visualize the worst-case scenario. I say it very often but this really works. When you know the worst is actually not that bad, you can stay calmer and give in your best without any fear.
